Special Invite to Meet The Author Event: Bob Burg, "Go-Giver", December 6, 2010

We still have seats available for this as well.  Take part in this rare opportunity to speak with the author of this best-selling book!

I’m attaching a flyer for an upcoming event on December 6 at Central College. Jamie Gyolai, ManyHatter and Central College Adjunct Professor, has invited the author Bob Burg, to speak to a private audience on his blockbuster book “Go-Giver”.  This book has been a huge asset to many of us who have started small businesses because of the way it turns “the rules” on their heads and makes you think about how you do business differently.  I would encourage all of you to attend, but as luck would have it, there are only 25 spots available!  This special opportunity to Skype live with Bob Burg should provide an inside perspective to his teaching on his 5 Laws for Stratospheric Success:

#1 – Law of Value. Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.

#2 – Law of Compensation. Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.

#3 – Law of Influence. Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people's interests first.

#4 – Law of Authenticity. The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.

#5 – Law of Receptivity. The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving .

Please review the info in the flyer and email me ASAP if you’d like to attend.  If you are unable to attend but are interested in the content, please add “Go-Giver” to your Christmas list in 2010!

Thanks & God Bless,

Joel Bennett

We still have a number of seats open for this, so register while there is still time.  Looking forward to a good group on Thursday!

ManyHatters, Past Idea Exchange participants, and interested parties:  I just wanted to get the announcement for our next Idea Exchange in your hands.  We’d like to get one more of these sessions in before the end of 2010, and with the holidays hurdling our way, the sooner the better!

The session will be very similar to our first one with some minor changes:

·         We’ll ask each participant to come with their 3 “inputs” written out beforehand- My Goal, What I have, What I Need. After we start you’ll add these to your sheet of paper before we begin

·         We’re inviting fewer resources for the initial sessions.  Although we got some good interaction between Idea folks and resources, many found they weren’t quite ready to jump into more “serious” areas (legal, accounting, financial, etc.).  We’d like to offer the option of meeting with these types of folks during follow-up “Many Hats Huddles”… small roundtable sessions with a targeted group of folks providing input on your specific areas of interest.  We’ll discuss this option on December 2, but let me know if you have interest in lining this up.

·         We’re asking everyone to introduce themselves at the beginning of the session.  This should break down some hesitancy at the beginning of the session and give everyone a clear idea of your goal.  Be ready to introduce as follows: “Hi, my name is “NAME”, and my idea is to “IDEA”.

·         Marion County Development Commission will be a join sponsor with Veel Hoeden.  Carla Eysink will be on hand to participate as a resource, as well as provide info on connection points for small businesses here in Marion County.

·         We’ve limited the participant group to 24 to make the session as effective as possible.

Please email me ASAP if you want to register.  Remember, with the registrations being limited to 24, seats will fill up soon.

Looking forward to sharing ideas with you!

Thanks & God Bless,

Joel Bennett

ManyHats Meetup December 17

We had an awesome Meetup in November (see picts), standing room only for a bit.  Very excited to offer the tail end of the session to do a little mini-Idea Exchange, or ManyHats Huddle, to help out a new business in town.  Hope you’ll plan on attending the next one.  We meet from 7-9a, come and go as you please, at Veel Hoeden (709 Main Street, Pella).  Hoep to see you then!

It's Official! We're in Business!

The Dutch Greeters from the Pella Chamber of Commerce came to see us early one morning last week and surprised us with a ribbon cutting.  I was very happy that Scott and Tom were there to take part, not only because they’re a piece of this whole thing, but largely because it meant I wasn’t the only one sporting male-pattern baldness.

And to answer the question everyone is asking… yes, I did fight back the urge to run with those massive scissors.
