On Thursday, November 18 I'll be near Iowa's east coast speaking at the AAF:CRIC (Cedar Rapids - Iowa City) luncheon. If you're in that part of the state, swing by!

For some reason, AMA Iowa decided to invite me back on Wednesday, December 1 to share my 10 predictions about the future of social media, what we'll be calling it next year, and how it will impact marketing, communications and traditional media over the next decade. So let's pack the room and blow the doors off the Hilton Garden Inn.
Get registered here: http://www.amaiowa.com/program.asp?id=60.

If you organize events and you're looking for a speaker, we'd love to help – please check out our speaking page for testimonials, experience and sample presentations.

What does your desk say about you?

ManyHats Meetup this Friday, October 15

October’s ManyHats Meetup is slated for Friday, October 15, 2010 at Veel Hoeden (709 Main St.) in Pella.  7-9am... come and go as you need to, free coffee/hot chocolate/tea available compliments of Automatic Beverage.

We hope you'll join us for some discussion, thought sharing, and "open mic" Q&A on what challenges you are facing. We'd also like to provide an opportunity to tour and hang out in our new coworking space, Veel Hoeden.  We opened the first week of October to support local small businesses, entrepreneurs, and mobile office warriors just like you.  Come for the meeting, hand around after and  work with a free trial pass on me.

We’re hoping for a full house.  Get there early to choose the comfy-est chair… last one there may be sitting on the exercise ball.  Have a dining room/straight/office chair you are trying to get rid of?  Bring it along and we’ll find a new home for it and give you a 2nd free trial pass for a friend!

Grad a friend and a hat and get there!

Nigel Marsh on Worklife Balance

Excellent use of 10 minutes…

The reality of the society that we're in, is that there are thousands and thousands of people out there, leading lives of quiet, screaming desperation, where they work long, hard hours at jobs they hate, to enable them to buy things they don't need, to impress people they don't like. And it's my contention that going to work on a Friday in jeans and a t-shirt, isn't really getting to the nub of the issue.”
